James Pinnington died
tragically when climbing in the Cairngorm mountains May 2009. He was at
Belmont in the early 60's a quiet man but fearless
on the rugby field. After
leaving Belmont he worked in Liverpool for the National Westminster
Bank. Following the family tradition he played for Waterloo Rugby Club
for many years. James received early retirement from the bank, but
continued to lead an active life. When he died he was attempting to
climb all the Scottish Mountains over 3000 feet (The Monroe's) he had
but 14 left to conquer.
James never married but had
4 brothers who produced many nieces and nephews that loved James as a
father. A kind, gentleman who was never heard to say a critical word
about anybody. A top man, there were not many like him.
Joe
Pinnington.

Familiar to all who hung around the radiators during break, this is a phenomenal item, the only school related item still on display at Belmont (2002), with the names of boys from the school up until the late 'fifties all around the edge.

Bro. James (Michael) Oakley produced a slim volume of poems with illustrations, he printed it in the Belmont Press , and bound it himself in 1955. A wonderful piece of work.
